A seven-member Orissa squad bagged a total of five medals, including one gold and four silvers in the 15th National Senior Federation Cup Athletics Championship, which was held at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi (Jharkhand) from May 1 to 4. Anuradha Biswal lived upto her reputation as National record holder by winning gold medal in women`s 100m hurdles, clocking 14.28 seconds.
Three silver medals were claimed by Parbati Sethi, Srabanai Nanda and Renubala Mahanta in women’s discus throw (44.11m), 100m sprint (11.98s) and long jump (5.98m) respectively. The other silver medal was claimed in women’s 4x100 meter relay by Anuradha, Srabani, Renubala and Saraswati Chand, taking 47.75 seconds.
Orissa athlete Jauna Murmu, who represent ONGC, bagged gold in women`s 400m hurdles (59.82s) and silver in 400m sprint (53.26s). Namita Samal, also from Orissa but representing Jharkhand, secured a bronze in women`s 200m sprint (24.37s).
